The basic casting series of the Quadrajet carburetor is 4M. All variations of the Quadrajet revolve from this series. In 1965 the Chevrolet division was the 1st to use the Quadrajet on some engines. 705200, 705201, 7025220, 7025221 In 1966 Oldsmobile added the Quadrajet to some of it's V8's. In 1967 Cadillac and Pontiac added the Quadrajet to it's line. In 1968 the Quadrajet carburetor became the standard 4 bbl carburetor for all of GM's divisions. Carter also produced many Quadrajets under license from Rochester. There were several problems with the early Quadrajets, but we know about these and make the modifications when we do a rebuild. In 1971 the Pontiac division modified the Quadrajet casting using numbers: 7041267, 7041268, 7041270, 7041273 on 455 HO, and 7041263 used on the 400 and 455 with manual transmissions. This was for 1971 only. Buick used a modified Quadrajet from 1971-1974. These carburetors used the divorced style of choke. Pontiac used the Buick modified Quadrajet for it's 455 from 1973-1974. These are great high performance carbs. The 4M casting was redesigned in 1975 and became the M4M series.
